"We need to promote development that does not destroy our environment." - Wangari Maathai
We use recyclable materials where possible. We try to use sustainable materials such as wood for products such as furniture and toys instead of plastics and rubbers. We teach children to recycle paper and rubbish within their rooms, at home and in the wider community. We encourage recycling of cardboard, glass, paper and print cartridges.
Rain water is collected and used were appropriate. We encourage children to turn the water off when they have finished washing their hands. We encourage children to use the half flush on their toilets. A water well outside teaches children that water can be pumped from under ground and used to water plants.
We talk with the children and about electricity and encourage them to turn off lights. All our centres have solar systems installed to minimise our carbon footprint. Our buildings use R4.0 insulation to maximise thermal insulation, requiring less energy to heat and cool. The insulation also aids in noise pollution to our surroundings.
Educating children and having them participate in "garden to plate" activities like seed sprouting, weeding, vegetable gardens and cooking amongst other activities. Also teaching children about wastage and food scraps including composte bins to use back in their gardens.
